What is wrong with my computer?

I have had my Toshiba Notebook (p100 running xp and vista) for almost 3 years. I have taken it in for repair twice already and both times they have replaced the hard drive saying it was corrupted. What happened both times is when windows was booting up CHKDSK would run and every time it would find errors. This would happen around once a week until XP wouldn’t boot anymore. I upgraded the memory once, from 1 GB to 2 GB made by Crucial. Three months after I did this I had to take my notebook in for the first repair, the second occurred a year later. Now, one year after the second repair, the same things are starting to reappear. The new thing that is happening is that I have a connection to the internet but it won’t let me download anything because it says that my C:/ drive is corrupted. So now I am wondering if it really is that the third hard drive is corrupted as well.

well alex: your in luck as there is a lot of great free testing software to see but chances are the drive is fine needs to be recovered..
as you did not say weather you use a security suite or not and xp from 3 years ago may or may not use even windows firewall…it sounds like your unit keeps getting compromized
virus which is dumping your windows files and since it appears to be the same coruption both times…also if you did a backup of the data prior to the recovery you probably backed up the virus and just relaoded it on to the new machine…
there are other issues that can cause the same effects
but thats how i make my money in my shop
but check out the drive first a good nuke and pave don’t save any data and put a security suite on the unit make sure there is no intenet running PERIOD while you format and reload windows
