Do i need a video card for desktop computers?

I heard that some laptops are bad for gaming because they will need a video card replacement or something. Do desktop computers need video cards to play games like the sims 3 and flight simulators too?

The $400 computer wouldn’t matter. I found a Nvidia 9500 video card for a computer for like $400 and it runs most games perfectly.

You need videocard in order to get new graphics, in some cases, you need a new motherboard.
